A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

This incident caused the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
