Power facilities under attack in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in recent weeks

During the night, Russian aerial assaults have caused electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while local people in the city's east were plunged into darkness and encountered interruptions to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has escalated assaults on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from allies to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the US, European nations and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and enforcing penalties," he wrote in a social media post.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were working to repair systems.

A wave of strikes hit power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from local officials.
